Tysa Laidlow

Communications Specialist

Toronto Metropolitan UNIVERSITY

Tysa is a digital designer currently completing her bachelor's degree in Fashion, with a concentration in Communications and a minor in Marketing at Toronto Metropolitan University. She is passionate about graphic design and social media content creation, using these mediums to explore her own creative identity.

She believes that design is meant to solve problems, not create them, and therefore values functionality above all else in her work. However, for Tysa, functional design doesn’t mean boring. In fact, what drives her in the creative process is finding new ways to work with image and text that will both engage the audience and remain accessible to all. The fine line between these goals is where functionality lies, and for Tysa, creating that balance is the most exciting part of design.

Outside of Fashion Studies, Tysa also works as one of the Co-Art Directors of Print at Style Circle, a student-run fashion publication. In her free time, she enjoys working out and exploring the art, eats, and culture of the exciting city of Toronto.
