Irene Gammel holds a Canada Research Chair in Modern Literature and Culture at Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto, where she is Professor of English and also directs the Modern Literature and Culture Research Centre. Her research interests include modernism and the avant-garde, as well as the intersections of fashion, gender and sexuality. She has authored many articles and chapters for volumes dedicated to fashion studies. She is the author and editor of 13 books including Looking for Anne of Green Gables (St. Martin's Press) and Baroness Elsa: Gender, Dada, and Everyday Modernity- A Cultural Biography (MIT Press).
