Beverly Lemire is Professor and Henry Marshall Tory Chair in the Department of History and Classics, University of Alberta. She has published extensively in the field of fashion history, early global trade, gender and material culture in Britain, Europe and comparative locales. You can find her collaborative project examining global object lives in Northern North America at: www.objectlives.com. Her recent article is entitled “A Question of Trousers: Seafarers, Masculinity and Empire in the Shaping of British Male Dress, c. 1600-1800”, published in Cultural & Social History (2016). Her newest book, forthcoming with Cambridge University Press, is titled: In the Wake of Global Trade: Material Culture and Consumer Practice Transformed, c. 1500s-1820s.
