Rita Morais de Andrade is Associate Professor at Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil. She holds a PhD in History (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, 2008) and an MA in History of Textiles and Dress (University of Southampton, 2000). Co-editor of two special issues on Latin America Fashion Now (2014) and Brazilian Fashion (2016), both for Fashion Theory. Co-authored the chapter “Dress, Body, and Culture in Brazil” for the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion Vol. 2: Latin America and the Caribbean (2010). Lider of the research group INDUMENTA: dress and textiles studies in Brazil. Her teachings and research focus on dress and fashion in relation to material and visual culture.
