Megan Strickfaden is a design anthropologist, researcher and educator. She is an associate professor in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of Alberta (Canada), an adjunct professor in the Interculturalism, Migration and Minorities Studies Research Centre at KU Leuven (Belgium) and an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Architecture and Arts at Hasselt University (Belgium). Prior to entering academia, Strickfaden worked full-time as a design consultant for twelve years and continues to combine practice with research. She has taught design studies for nearly three decades— including fashion, interiors, engineering, and human-centred practices— and has hundreds of scholarly outcomes (books, publications, patents, designed products, exhibitions, films). Her research programme focuses on looking into how designed things in near environments support quality of life for people with different abilities, including older persons and those with disabilities.
